Why switch providers

Managed IT that prevents problems instead of just answering tickets

Most businesses that call us aren't short of an IT provider. They're short of one that notices problems before staff do, explains what they're paying for and knows Microsoft 365 and Azure as well as the desktop. We monitor around the clock, patch on a schedule, test backups and report monthly in plain language, with engineers who hold Microsoft's senior certifications.

4Microsoft Solutions Partner designations, so your Microsoft 365 and Azure are managed by specialists, not generalists.

Buyer's guide

Choosing a managed IT provider in Vancouver

What good managed IT includes, how pricing works, and when it's time to switch.

What a managed IT provider should do for you

A managed IT provider, often called an MSP, takes ongoing responsibility for your technology for a predictable monthly fee. That should mean much more than a help desk. A good provider monitors systems around the clock, patches them on a schedule, tests backups, runs your security tools, looks after Microsoft 365, keeps an asset inventory and tells you each month, in plain language, what they did and what's coming.

The difference between providers is how much of that is proactive. If you mostly hear from yours when something breaks, you're paying for break-fix support with a monthly invoice.

How managed IT pricing works

Managed IT in Vancouver is usually priced per user or per device per month, sometimes with a base fee for servers and network equipment. Others sell blocks of support hours. Before comparing quotes, check what's excluded. Common exclusions are after-hours work, on-site visits, projects such as office moves or migrations, and software licensing, which is usually billed separately.

We offer two options. The month-to-month plan has no long-term commitment, lets you raise or lower hours for future months, and rolls unused hours over. The annual plan has discounted rates, equal monthly payments and the ability to borrow hours from future months when something urgent comes up. We quote after a short review of your environment, so the price reflects your setup rather than a generic tier.

Security is part of managed IT, not an add-on

For most small and mid-sized businesses, the biggest risks are phishing, stolen passwords and unpatched devices rather than sophisticated attacks. A managed IT service should cover the basics as standard:

  • Multi-factor authentication on every account
  • Conditional Access to block risky sign-ins
  • Endpoint protection on every device
  • Patching of operating systems and third-party apps
  • Email filtering and phishing protection
  • Tested backups, with at least one copy isolated from the network

These controls matter for cyber insurance too. Insurers increasingly ask about multi-factor authentication, endpoint protection and backups at renewal, and a provider who already runs them can answer the questionnaire quickly.

Signs it's time to change providers

Businesses rarely switch providers over a single incident. It's usually a pattern:

  • The same issues keep coming back after they're marked resolved
  • You can't get a straight answer about what you're paying for
  • Nobody has reviewed your security or tested your backups in the past year
  • Your provider is uncomfortable with Microsoft 365 or Azure
  • Response times are slipping and there's no clear escalation path

Switching is less disruptive than most businesses expect. We document your environment, collect credentials and licences, run monitoring alongside your current provider and take over on an agreed date.

Why choose a Microsoft Solutions Partner for managed IT

Most businesses in Metro Vancouver now run on Microsoft 365, and many have some Azure. A provider that knows that stack deeply manages identity, email security, device management and cloud together instead of treating them as separate problems.

Techrupt holds four Microsoft Solutions Partner designations. When you're ready to go further, with Copilot, virtual desktops or moving servers to Azure, the team that runs your IT day to day can deliver the project too.
